Nagarhole National Park,, is a wildlife reserve in the South Indian state of Karnataka. Part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, the park is backed by the Brahamagiri Mountains and filled with sandalwood and teak trees. The Kabini River winds through jungle landscapes, home to tigers, Asian elephants and a variety of birds. Nearby, the Irupu Falls cascade down tree-lined rocks.
Placed in the Nilgiri mountain range, Nagarhole national park is one of the best national parks in India. Around 96 km from Mysore on the Karnataka-Kerala border, it is easily accessible through all modes of transportation.

By Road: Nagarhole national park is well-connected to several towns and cities of Karnataka state such as Bangalore and Mysore, along with the neighboring states. State-run as well as private buses operate on a daily basis from Bengaluru and Mysore till HD Kote bus station. This bus stand is around 30 km from the national park. Taxis can be hired from here. You can also choose to drive down yourself.
Nagarhole National Park is open for public entry all the way through the year but the best time to visit the Nagarhole National Park is from April to May, when the waterholes are dry and the animals come out to visit the lake. Nevertheless, the weather conditions are more pleasing from November to February.
Nagarahole is derived its name from Naga, means snake and Hole refers to as streams. The park is located in Kodagu and Mysore District. Kannada is the local language around the National park. Nagarahole Park is declared as thirty seventh Tiger Reserve in India. It is also considered as World Heritage site by UNESCO. Three of the park namely Bandipur, Mudumalai & Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary are adjacent to the Nagarahole. Bengal Tiger, Indian Leopard, Sloth Bear, Striped Hyena are the predators that can be spotted in the park. Herbivores like Elephants, Chital, Sambar Deer, and Barking Deer is also spotted around the national park.
