Day 01: Arrive Ahmedabad

In time arrive at Ahmedabad airport. Upon arrival meeting assistance at airport by our representative and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day free at your own. Overnight at hotel.

 

Ahmedabad – Textile hub of India. Think textile, think Gujarat. It’s an old success story which rings true even today. The emergence of Ahmedabad as the ‘Manchester of the East’ is as much due to the industrial expertise of the Gujaratis as is it to the moral expertise of Mahatma Gandhi who shook the conscience of the nation with the Swadeshi movement and promoted the use of national made goods and textiles.

 

Day 02: Ahmedabad

Morning after a relaxing breakfast visit the utensils museum at Vishala followed by a traditional Gujarati meal at the Vishala restaurant. Rest of the day at your own to explore local markets. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 03:  Ahmedabad

After breakfast at hotel visit to the Calico Textile Museum, which has a rich collection of textiles of Indian origin collected from all over the world, the Gandhi Ashram and other local sights of Ahmedabad.

 

Later The Jammi Masjid, a beautiful mosque built by King Ahmed Shah, The Siddhis Bashir mosque famous for its shaking minarets and Rani Rupmati’s mosque, a mosque dedicated to the Hindu queen of King Ahmed Shah. Evening free at your own. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 04: Drive to Bhavnagar, a major industrial town of Gujarat. (180 Km / 4 Hrs)

After breakfast at hotel drive to Bhavnagar, en-route experiencing the glory of Jain temples at Palitana. The Palitana Jain temple is among the most important pilgrimage sites of the Jains. Situated atop a hill, it takes more that 3000 steps to climb up to the temple. Palanquins (piggyback on human carriers) can be hired for the climb.

 

Later continue drive to Bhavnagar. On arrival check-in at hotel. Rest of the day at your own. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 05: Drive to Sasan Gir, home to the famous Asiatic Lions. (240 Km / 5 Hrs)

After an early breakfast & checkout from the hotel drive to Sasan Gir, famous for the Gir National Park. The Gir national park is the only sanctuary in India where you can spot the famous Asiatic lion in its natural habitat. Apart from these royal animals, the park also has a good concentration of leopards, sambars, deer, marsh crocodiles etc. The park is also a paradise for bird watchers with frequent sightings of changeable hawk eagle, crested serpent eagle, Bonneli's eagle, Peregrine falcon, black-hooded and golden oriels, Marshall's and common era.

Upon arrival check-in at hotel. Later in the evening enjoy a jeep safari in the national park.  Return to your wilderness camp for the night stay.

 

Day 06: Day in Gir

Enjoy a morning Jeep safari in the park spotting the wild animals going about their daily chores. An afternoon reserve to enjoy game drive in the park. Return to your wilderness camp for the night stay.

 

Day 07: Drive to Gondal, a princely town of Gujarat (140 Km / 3 Hrs)

After breakfast & checkout from your Jungle resort, drive to Gondal, a heritage town dotted with forts and palaces. Upon arrival check-in at hotel. Later in the afternoon enjoy a sightseeing tour, which includes a visit to, Naulakha Palace, the oldest palace in Gondal. This palace has beautiful carvings and jharokhas as well as the good collection of silver caskets used by the royal families

Day 08: Drive to Wankaner, a royal city of Gujarat (105 Km / 2 Hrs)

After breakfast & checkout from the hotel drive to Wankaner. Enroute route visit the Nal Sarovar Lake, a paradise for bird watchers.  Upon arrival in Wankaner, check-in at hotel. Rest of the evening free at your own. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 09: Wankaner / Jamnagar (2 Hrs – One way)

After breakfast at hotel enjoy excursion tour to Jamnagar to see fantastic fabric beautification techniques, a city known for its tie and dye work and gold embroidery. Spend the day visiting factories and households, learning the intricacies of these arts. Later drive back to Wankaner for the overnight stay.

 

Day 10: Drive to Bhuj (195 Km / 3 Hrs)

After breakfast at hotel drive to Bhuj, the headquarters of Katchh district, the second largest district in India. Bhuj is famous as the shopping destination for local handicrafts of Gujarat. The villages around Bhuj specialize in different forms of handicrafts like cotton weaving, tie & dye work, block printing etc. Bhuj can also be made a base for visiting the Wild Ass Sanctuary at the Rann of Katchh.

       

Upon arrival check-in at hotel. Rest of the evening free at leisure. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 11: Day in Bhuj

Morning after breakfast, visit the nearby villages around Bhuj to see the local craftsmen at work. Each village in the Katchh region specializes in different forms of handicrafts with almost every household in the village engaged in a specialist form of art. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 12: Bhuj / Departure

Morning breakfast at hotel. Later in time transfer to Bhuj Airport, to catch your flight for onward destination.
