Maheshwar is a town in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh state, in central India. It is located 13 km east of National Highway 3 and 91 km from Indore, the commercial capital of the state. The Town lies on the north bank of the Narmada River. It was the kingdom of Chaktavartin Samrat Sahastraarjun, a Heheya king.

The best time to visit Maheshwar is from October-March. The climate in Maheshwar reaches the extremes both during summers and winters. The temperature rises to 35 to 40 degrees Celcius during the summers, and sometimes it goes up to 45 degrees Celcius during the month of May. The winters drop to a mere 5 degrees Celcius during nights. However, Maheshwar has pleasant winter mornings. The monsoon season has a decent amount of rainfall which shall not be a problem. As this destination believes in worshipping Lord Shiva, the ideal time to come here would be during the months February or March, when Shivratri is celebrated.
